unspecified4In addition to being a surgeon and recording artist, Dr. Mark Williams is also a dynamic speaker and prolific writer. He is often sought after for motivational and keynote speaking engagements. While his professional expertise affords him numerous invitations to serve as a workshop facilitator or panelist at voice care seminars, his singing talent and passion for ministry allows him the opportunity to facilitate workshops on worship, and the use of the voice in worship.

With over 10 years of experience as a voice care professional and over 25 years of experience as a singer/recording artist, Dr. Williams is uniquely poised to provide insightful and engaging presentations in these arenas. Dr. Williams has served as worship leader at various churches since 1998 and in the process has accumulated a vast knowledge of the spiritual and practical applications of praise and worship. This knowledge is abundantly evident in seminars where he imparts this insight to churches and in his new book, When A Man Worships.

unspecified2“Dr. Williams” unusual life experiences and training enables him to be an effective motivational speaker as well. At the age of 19 years, his father and brother died tragically in a boating accident. While such a devastating life event could have had deleterious effects on Williams’ path, he rather chose to use it to strengthen his life’s journey. He subsequently changed his major to Mortuary Science and became a Funeral Director/Embalmer prior to enrolling in medical school. This career path opened the doors to numerous unique opportunities and mentor relationships that helped shape and direct his current path.

The tragic loss of his father and brother served as a catalyst that would propel Dr. Williams to obtaining not only his Medical Doctorate (M.D.), but also a Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Pharmacology & Cell Biophysics. He was the second African-American to graduate from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine Physician-Scientist (M.D./Ph.D.) Program. During his tenure, he received several highly competitive awards including a fellowship from the famed Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Together, these experiences allow Dr. Williams to inspire others to turn Tragedy Into Triumph.

Married for over 27 years, with three wonderful children, Dr. Williams is a devoted family man and has published on topics such as balancing family and career. With multiple talents and skillful balance, Dr. Williams is aptly able to speak on various topics, with great inspiration, to both secular and religious audiences.
